  26. I am planning on making a 1.2.8 release sometime between now
  27. and the end of the month.  There are several reasons for
  28. this.  First, there are enough new submissions to make it
  29. worth the effort, including several key bug fixes.  (Like the
  30. DO memory leak in MiscString.)  Second, there were enough
  31. problems with 1.2.7(a) and still are that I have sat down and
  32. tried to figure out what all the problems are and if I can
  33. make things smoother.  As such, I have done extensive testing
  34. and Makefile tweaking and I think things ought to go better.
  35. At least it works for me on a completely clean system and under
  36. all sorts of other adverse conditions that could make it not
  37. work--I've run about five complete builds over the past two
  38. days to make sure I've got it right this time.  Seems to work
  39. really well, now.  :-)  For those without arch_tool and tool.make
  40. (pre 3.2, in other words) it will now try and compensate since
  41. those are common difficulties...

  43. I have about two more submissions to fold into the kit
  44. and then it will be ready to go.  If there are any
  45. submissions on the brink of coming in, please send them now
  46. or give me notice so that I can get as many as possible into
  47. this next release.

  49. The 1.2.8 release will be to ftp.et.byu.edu only and will be
  50. announced only to this mailing list and the release
  51. notification list.  I will not post to the net.  This will
  52. give all of you a chance to beta test it.  If no problems
  53. crop up, then I will place it on the net.  If something big
  54. and bad comes up I will fix it and then release to the net.

  56. The 1.2.9 release will not happen until the first or second
  57. week of December, so if you have a submission, get it in
  58. quick or know that it will have to wait at least that long to
  59. be seen...
