I am planning on making a 1.2.8 release sometime between now
and the end of the month. There are several reasons for
this. First, there are enough new submissions to make it
worth the effort, including several key bug fixes. (Like the
DO memory leak in MiscString.) Second, there were enough
problems with 1.2.7(a) and still are that I have sat down and
tried to figure out what all the problems are and if I can
make things smoother. As such, I have done extensive testing
and Makefile tweaking and I think things ought to go better.
At least it works for me on a completely clean system and under
all sorts of other adverse conditions that could make it not
work--I've run about five complete builds over the past two
days to make sure I've got it right this time. Seems to work
really well, now. :-) For those without arch_tool and tool.make
(pre 3.2, in other words) it will now try and compensate since
those are common difficulties...
I have about two more submissions to fold into the kit
and then it will be ready to go. If there are any
submissions on the brink of coming in, please send them now
or give me notice so that I can get as many as possible into
this next release.
The 1.2.8 release will be to ftp.et.byu.edu only and will be
announced only to this mailing list and the release
notification list. I will not post to the net. This will
give all of you a chance to beta test it. If no problems
crop up, then I will place it on the net. If something big
and bad comes up I will fix it and then release to the net.
The 1.2.9 release will not happen until the first or second
week of December, so if you have a submission, get it in
quick or know that it will have to wait at least that long to
be seen...
